Dr. Bruce Chambers received his DVM degree from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987.  After working at the Gage Animal Hospital in Topeka, Kansas his first 2 years out of school, Dr. Chambers decided to return to his home town of Lansing, Kansas and it was there that he opened the Lansing Veterinary Hospital in 1989.

One of Dr. Chambers favorite past times has always been quail and pheasant hunting over a good bird dog.  As an undergraduate at Kansas State, he spent quite a bit of time reading the American Field.  His interest in frozen semen use in dogs began when he read the articles about an English Setter named Johnny Crockett, the first to produce a frozen semen litter in the Field Dog Stud Book.  While finding this technology exciting, it wasn’t until 1997 that he decided to add Canine Reproduction to his practice.  Since that time, Dr. Chambers has had a 90% success rate with pregnancies and litter sizes averaging 6.8 pups with semen he has frozen.

In 2007,  Dr. Chambers offered Kathy Rasmussen the opportunity to work with Canine Reproduction and assisting with these services.   This was the beginning of Kansas City Canine Reproduction Services, Inc.   Kathy then went for intensive training and was trained in collecting, freezing and handling of canine semen.

Kathy’s background as a dedicated breeder, owner, handler of whippets under the kennel name of Harmony Whippets has given her a true appreciation of what reproductive services has to offer the active breeder.   It is so much safer and less stressful to ship the semen rather than the bitch for a breeding.
